Ms Joelle Yap is the Vice Chairperson of the Emergency Nurses Chapter of the Singapore Nurses Association. She is an Adjunct Lecturer in Nanyang Polytechnic and Curtin University. She holds a Masters in Science in Disaster Management from Northumbria University in Newcastle, UK, and a Masters in Health Services Management from Curtin University, Western Australia.

Joelle’s nursing career started in the Department of Emergency Medicine, Singapore General Hospital. After obtaining her Bachelor of Nursing from Sydney University in 1996, she returned to work in the A&E. During her 7 years as a nurse in the A&E, she participated in medical relief efforts. It was during that time that she developed her passion in empowering people and inspiring others to learn. She progressed to becoming a full time Lecturer and Assistant Manager at Nanyang Polytechnic before making the bold step to work part-time while extending her career beyond the classroom by volunteering overseas whenever the opportunity arises.
